Exciting news! After piloting a couple new technologies to offer our providers ways to increase efficiencies in their workflow and decrease workload burden, BJC and WU have entered into an agreement with Abridge to transition patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, using generative AI.
The ambient notes tool pilot began in summer 2024 with a goal of having 30 clinicians test it for 60 days. That group grew to around 45 clinicians and the pilot was extended through the end of 2024. During the pilot, clinicians used Abridge for 45% of their patient encounters, rated their Abridge notes 4.44 out of 5, and generated over 6500 notes.
Based on the results of the pilot, we are rolling out Abridge to 470 clinicians across BJC Medical Group and WashU. We continue to see increased clinician and patient satisfaction, along with increased utilization. While we roll this our to the larger group, we will continue to track time savings with the goal of increasing efficiencies and reducing workload burden for our clinicians so they can focus on what is really important, the patient.
